The kitchen is getting a makeover with this new class. So, get ready for some major changes.

1. Upper cabinets are making an exit. Personally, I prefer them, but the new lower-only look is clean and well-defined. Just less space for storage unless you’re using open shelving.
2. High contrast choices. Where in the past we’ve seen a liking of all-white kitchens, today you’ll see white with a high contract ebony or black gloss, or epoxy finishes to really give it a pop of color and to create a clean statement.
3. Wood paneled statement ceilings. There has been a resurgence of stunning wood statement ceilings in the 21^st century and we’ll continue to see this element continue especially in the kitchen setting.
4. Bold and patterned cabinetry. Cabinets are making their own splash with not only bolder color choices and trim but with patterns and mixed materials. Flat surfaces are finding themselves by the wayside in favor of texture and depth.
5. Double Islands- That’s right, not one but two islands to round out a kitchen. What started as a small island in the middle of the kitchen has moved to a larger, double statement of the kitchen. These islands are multi-functional settings with mass storage solutions, seating for entertainment, and food prep areas all in one.
6. Impressive hardware- Boring handles? No way! It’s time for overstated hardware that makes its own impression! No piece is overlooked. This is an area where if you’re looking to make some subtle improvements, hardware is where it can be done and yet make a wonderful impact.
7. Marble slab backsplash & waterfall- Not a fan of tile backsplash? You’ll love the new trend of utilizing a slab of marble for your backsplash and waterfall down the island.  Looks magnificent and bonus- NO grooves to clean!!
