Why Your Curb Appeal Matters

Having great curb appeal can go miles toward your home getting noticed quickly and getting the most money out of the deal as possible. Agents will often cite outdoor remodeling projects as some of the most valuable projects toward the selling of a home, but most homeowners don’t know which projects will get them the most return for their money.

Replacing your entry door or the siding and window treatments can have a return value of more than 78% of your costs. While replacing your door might cost $1,000, you’ll make most of that back with the sale of your home and the great first impression you’ll make is worth more than a 100% return. If buyers are put off by your curb appeal they won’t even bother talking a look inside your home.

The addition of a deck or patio is project that is often suggested by agents, where a return of over 87% of your costs is likely. Vinyl siding might return over 78% while fiber-cement siding can return of almost 10% more as it’s more desirable to buyers.

Replacing a midrange garage door can get you a return of 83%, even if you buy a more expensive garage door. You may want to invest in some wood or vinyl window replacements as they can get more than a 79% return upon sale.

Just remember that even a fresh coat of paint can clean up your curb appeal enough to draw buyers in.
